Description
The historic 1939 Boots Court motel is located at the “Crossroads of America” in Carthage, Missouri, and remains one of the oldest operating motels along the iconic Route 66. The original structure was conceived by Arthur Boots in the Streamline Moderne style and designed specifically for the Route 66 tourist trade. Despite charging the exorbitant price of $2.50 a night to discourage unsavory guests, Boots Court was a successful business venture, and four additional units were promptly built onto the existing building. A five-room building was constructed by new owners in 1946, expanding the number of available guest rooms to 13. Unfortunately, over ensuing years and changes in ownership, this iconic and unique motel fell into disrepair and only the back five rooms were available for travelers. In 2021 Boots Court was once again listed for sale. The Boots Court Foundation was established to not only prevent the motel from further decline and possible demolition but more importantly to rehabilitate the historic Boots Court. The Boots is once again fully open and offers quality rooms for discerning travelers along the Mother Road.
